NSC meets again today amid security, economic challenges

ISLAMABAD, Jan 2 (FD):  The meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be held again today (Monday) during which important decisions about national security and economy are expected.

The NSC meeting will be held at the Prime Minister s House, and it is expected that significant decisions will be made regarding the proposals that were discussed during previous NSC meeting on Friday. The meeting will be attended by top civil and military officials.

According to sources, the National Security Committee will approve clear guidelines on the country s economy and security and will chalk out a stern policy amid terror resurgence.

Sources further said that the meeting will endorse forceful actions against terrorists. The meeting will also present a new operation plan for the elimination of terrorists.

In th first round, the civil-military leadership expressed resolve on Friday to consolidate the hard-earned gains in the country and deal with terrorism with an iron hand.

Federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Khwaja Asif, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and others attended the moot. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir, other services chiefs and spymaster Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum were also present.

The moot of the civil and military leaders came as Pakistan has recently witnessed surge in terrorism cases after the TTP withdrew from the ceasefire agreement. Sources said the forum pledged to establish peace in every nook and corner of the country. It also resolved to ensure effective implementation of the National Action Plan.
