55.79% increase in tobacco exports in four months

ISLAMABAD, Dec 08 (INP-WealthPK) — The country’s tobacco exports increased by 55.79% during the first four months of the fiscal year 2022–23 compared to the corresponding time the previous year.

According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pakistan exported tobacco worth $17.792 million between July and October 2022–23 compared to $11.420 million between July and October 2021–22, representing a rise of 55.79%. The quantity of tobacco export increased by 63.69% from 4,264 metric tonnes to 6,980 metric tonnes.

In the meanwhile, compared to the same month in the previous year, tobacco exports fell by 34.77% in October 2022. Compared to September 2021’s $3.520 million in exports, tobacco shipments in October 2022 totalled $2.296 million.

On a monthly basis, tobacco exports likewise saw a decrease of 34.40% from $3.500 million in September 2022 to October 2022.
