ISLAMABAD, Dec. 06 (INP-WealthPK) — Hamza Zaki, a mechanical design engineer from Kasur district of Punjab province in Pakistan, has earned $36,000 through freelancing over the last two years, WealthPK reports.

After proving his mettle as a freelancer, he has now planned to establish a platform to provide job opportunities to other mechanical engineers.

Hamza Zaki told WealthPK during a chat that his next target is to earn $100,000 in two years. He said that most of his clients come from the USA, the UK and other countries of Europe. He serves his clients through WhatsApp, video links and messaging. Being a regular and documented taxpayer, he receives all his payments through his student account at Habib Bank Limited.

He said that he joined mechanical engineering freelancing out of the box. Despite having value and market, there was not any trend in the country of freelancing in the field of mechanical engineering. He added that he worked on Fivver and Upwork, the two famous global freelancing platforms.

“Since my school days, I have been interested in mathematics and science. I selected mechanical engineering because I have a keen interest in machine designing,” said Hamza Zaki.

He said that he initiated freelancing as a graphic designer and found that very difficult so he decided to use his own expertise in mechanical engineering. “There is enough space and opportunities in mechanical engineering freelancing. Students must come forward and utilise their skills on Fivver and Upwork,” he added.

The young freelancer said that despite having the background of a business family, he preferred the freelancing industry. He started freelancing when he was studying in the 3rd year of the engineering programme.

Hamza Zaki said that he started bearing his own as well as his brothers’ educational expenses during his student life after joining the freelancing industry. Instead of taking pocket money and educational expenses from his family, he started supporting it.

He said that the market of mechanical engineering is still unexplored. He advised young engineers to join the freelancing industry. He said that fresh graduates could get a salary of Rs25,000 to Rs35,000 per month in a company. After an experience of 10 to 12 years, a mechanical engineer could earn up to Rs100,000 per month.

Hamza Zaki, a graduate of Air University Islamabad, said that he had decided to work as a professional entrepreneur and deliver in the freelancing market. He said that students of mechanical engineering could start freelancing.

He said that engineered students know software like solid works and AutoCAD MATLAB, which could help them to start operating mechanics. He added that freelancing would also help them to get prepared for their examinations.

He told WealthPK that the government should implement the tax policy in letter and spirit and provide facilities to freelancers.
