LAHORE, Dec 5(FD): India has not yet issued visas to the Pakistan cricket team to participate in the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup.
The Pakistan team was scheduled to travel to India’s capital New Delhi on Dec 4 (today) for the opening ceremony of the mega event on Dec 5.
Pakistan’s squad comprising 33 members is waiting for Indian visas. The team is scheduled to play its first match against South Africa on Dec 6. The big match between Pakistan and India will be played on Dec 7.
The Pakistan team has the honour of winning the highest number of matches played by the teams having visually-challenged players.
Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) chairman Sultan Shah said India had not issued visas to the team for the momentous cricketing event.
Earlier, Sultan Shah said, “We haven’t received visas today. We submitted squad members’ names a month ago and passports a week ago. But no response from India so far.”
“World Blind Cricket Council gave the hosting rights to India on the condition of making sure that all countries participate. I hope the Indian government gives permission by Tuesday,” he added.
