Long march to resume from Wednesday, not tomorrow: Fawad

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has changed its plans and will now be resuming its long march from Wednesday instead of tomorrow following a brief pause due to party chief Imran Khan’s injury in an attempt on his life last week.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has announced that the party’s long march to Islamabad will resume from Wednesday at 2pm.

The long march was previously set to resume on Tuesday (tomorrow) from Wazirabad.

PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated the long march would resume tomorrow from the same location where the attack on party chief Imran Khan took place.

During a press conference in Lahore, Qureshi said that the move sent a clear message to party workers and the nation that the march would continue on its journey until “haqeeqi azadi (true freedom) is obtained”.

He said that the party had decided during its meeting that it would gather where the firing incident occurred at 1pm tomorrow. Qureshi said that Imran, who is currently recovering from his injuries, would give speeches via video link as the march moves onward.

PTI supporters have taken to the streets in Rawalpindi against the delay in the registration of the first information report (FIR) of the assassination attempt on party chairman Imran Khan.

The protesters gathered outside the Allama Iqbal Park and chanted anti-government slogans. They blocked the Murree road by burning tyres.

A scuffle was also reported between PTI workers after Fayyazul Hasan Chohan slapped a protester for spilling petrol on other people.

Meanwhile, another group of demonstrators, led by provincial minister Raja Basharat, staged a protest at the IJP road and demanded that a transparent inquiry be conducted into the attack on the PTI chief.
