WhatsApp has launched several new privacy features for its users recently. One of the features is hiding online status. WhatsApp launched the online status hiding feature a couple of months ago and now the feature is available for all users on the iOS and Android platforms. So, if you want to hide your WhatsApp online status from your boss or a stalker, you can now do that.

Step 1: Android or iOS users will first need to update the WhatsApp app
Step 2: Open the WhatsApp app on your phone
Step 3: Head over to the Settings menu
Step 4: Next, click on Account settings
Step 5: Scroll down to Privacy option
Step 6: Click on Last seen & online
Step 7: Now, you can select “who can see when I’m online”
Step 8: Change the setting as per your requirements.

Users can already hide their last seen from – everyone, contacts or just a few select contacts. Or, you can wish to not hide your last seen from anyone. In that case, you will need to click on the fourth option under online status setting – Nobody. For hiding online status, you get only two options – Everyone or ‘same as last seen’. So, you can first decide your last seen setting and then apply the same for online status. This way, you will be able to hide your WhatsApp online status from specific users or all your contacts.

With the online status hiding feature, the company aims to focus on privacy. WhatsApp has launched several new features related to privacy in the last few months. The company claims that all chats on the platform are end-to-end encrypted, which means no one other than the sender and receiver of the message can read chats. Not even WhatsApp or parent company Meta.

WhatsApp just launched a few more features, including the much-awaited Communities. In addition, the instant messaging platform also introduced some features for groups as well, including 32-people video calling, 1024 group participants, and more. WhatsApp said that these features will be available in the next few months.
