Imran Khan injured as man opens fire near PTI reception camp

ISLAMABAD, Nov 3 (FD): Unidentified assailants opened fire and injured Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, who is in stable condition.

The shots were fired near the party’s container on the seventh day of Haqeeqi Azadi the march in Wazirabad. Reports claim that party member Faisal Javed was also injured.

PTI leader Azhar Mashwani confirmed via Twitter that the former premier was safe and the on-ground team arrested the culprits.

Chaotic scenes broke out near PTI’s reception camp at Allahwala Chowk in Gujranwala after gunshots were fired at chairman Imran Khan.

According to reports, he sustained bullet injuries on his leg. According to the police, the suspect who opened fire on Khan’s container has been arrested.  Several other people, including PTI leader Faisal Javed, also sustained injuries.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the firing incident in Gujranwala that injured PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

The PM has directed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to seek an immediate report from the inspector-general of police and chief secretary of Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi has taken notice of the firing incident near PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s container in Wazirabad and instructed the provincial IGP to submit a report after thorough investigation.

“Those behind this incident will be brought to justice soon and the injured will be provided the best medical care,” the chief minister said.
