ISLAMABAD, Nov 01, (INP-WealthPK): Development work in Baluchistan’s Gwadar is continuing apace and many of the mega-projects will be completed in the ongoing fiscal year. After the completion of these projects people of the province will get a lot of employment opportunities in Gwadar.
The statement was by Hammal Kalmati, Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) of Baluchistan on Sunday. He is also a member of the Baluchistan National Party Mengal (BNP-M). He said that the support of the federal government for the completion of these projects is very crucial. “A project to modernize the city worth PKR3.3 billion is in full swing. It will go a long way to end the sense of deprivation among the local people after its timely completion.”
“Pak-China Friendship Hospital has been expanded from a 50-bed facility to 150-beds. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities to provide medical solutions to the people of Gwadar at their doorsteps. It will be given under the supervision of the Indus Hospital Authority from this November to provide free medical services to the people,” he said.
Total allocation for Gwadar by the government is PKR250 million, for Pasni PKR130 million, for Jewani PKR80 million and PKR150 million for other mega-projects in various cities of the province. Dam building is also high on the agenda of the government. A total of PKR240 million has been allocated for the construction of dams, which will ensure a steady supply of water for domestic and agriculture purposes. “Water issues in Gwadar will be addressed by the government on priority basis,” he added.
“Communication infrastructure like roads is also being revamped to connect rural areas with major ports and cities. Fishermen of the region will get easy access to the markets after the completion of these roads to sell their catch,” he continued.
“The government has also signed an agreement with Iran to procure electricity for the region to solve energy problems. A total of 100-MW will be coming in from Iran for distribution in Makran division. People will get immediate relief after the completion of this project. These areas are also being connected to the national grid so that local people feel integrated into the national mainstream,” he said.
