ISLAMABAD, October 26, (INP-WealthPK): Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) has announced the dates for its 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held in Baluchistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Quetta, from the 22nd of November to 24th of the same month, said a press release received by WealthPK.
AGM is a platform provided by PIDE to academics, policy-makers, thinkers, industrialists and economists to come together and share ideas. Various issues such as the economy, politics, society, culture, and the international situation will be discussed and debated. Developmental policy suggestions will be formulated by taking the input of all concerned stakeholders.
This year’s conference will have six Invited Keynote Lectures, six Panel discussions, two debates, and papers to be presented by researchers from all across Pakistan. Renowned academicians, businessmen, practitioners, and policymakers will be joining the meeting to contribute to the 36-year-old tradition
Local academia, policymakers, and the business community are invited to actively participate in the conference.
It also highlighted the youth bulge of the country and invited thinkers to come forward with practical policy propositions to harness the potential of youth of Pakistan. How Pakistan can reap the demographic dividend is the main question that will be discussed in this year’s AGM.
According to the PIDE presser, PSDE wants Pakistan to be a place that allows people to identify, avail, and maximize opportunity. How will this happen? What is the role of the state, markets, and society in identifying, allowing, and maximizing “opportunity?” This will be the focus of the debate for the 36th AGM and conference of the PSDE. The PIDE and PSDE also want to examine the society and economy in the context of the 4th Industrial revolution, what opportunities the revolution offers, and what the society needs to do to let people avail the opportunities and embrace the 4th industrial revolution.
