ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (INP-WealthPK): Pakistan’s exports in the rupee term were recorded at Rs1.605 billion during the first quarter (July-September) of 2022-23 against Rs1.147 billion exports during the same period of 2021-22, showing an increase of 39.99%, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
On year-on-year (YoY) basis, exports from the country increased by 39.24% and were recorded at Rs563.714 billion during September 2022, against the exports of Rs404.847 billion during September 2021. On month-on-month (MoM) basis, exports increased by 2.81% during September 2022 compared to exports of Rs548.326 billion recorded during August 2022.
The main commodities of exports during September 2022 were knitwear (Rs100.580 billion), readymade garments (Rs63.821 billion), bedwear (Rs61.630 billion), cotton cloth (Rs46.819 billion), towels (Rs20.115 billion), rice other than basmati (Rs17.527 billion), cotton yarn (Rs17.471 billion), made-up articles excluding towels and bedwear (Rs14.764 billion), rice basmati (Rs9.865 billion) and fish and fish preparations (Rs9.645 billion).
On the other hand, imports during July-September 2022 totalled Rs3.66 trillion as against Rs3.072 trillion during the corresponding period of last year, showing an increase of 19.35%.
During September 2022, imports into the country amounted to Rs1.232 trillion as against Rs1.341 trillion during August 2022, and Rs1.102 trillion during September 2021, showing a decrease of 8.11% over August 2021 but an increase of 11.72% over September 2021.
The main commodities of imports during September 2022 were petroleum products (Rs168.266 billion), petroleum crude (Rs103.825 billion), palm oil (Rs96.673 billion), liquified natural gas (Rs78.433 billion), plastic materials (Rs47.429 billion), iron and steel (Rs40.657 billion), medicinal products (Rs38.971 billion), raw cotton (Rs28.699 billion), iron and steel scrap (Rs27.172 billion) and wheat (Rs22.560 billion).
