ISLAMABAD, Oct 18 (INP-WealthPK): Hi-tech skills training has been provided to 98,000 youth in 989 institutes under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme since 2013.
The government informed the National Assembly through a written reply available with WealthPK that among the certified skilled professionals, 71% were employed in trades like machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics, and cyber security.
The Lower House of the Parliament was informed that conventional skills training was provided to 285,026 youth in trades like plumbing, electrical, welding, beauty services and dressmaking. Around 46,725 personnel were certified and mainstreamed through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) project through informal sector known as Ustad-Shagird (teacher-student).
The statement said 200 qualifications have been developed under National Vocational Qualifications Framework (NVQF) by National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC). International accreditation of 10 Pakistani institutes has been achieved and 535 Technical and Vocational Educational Training (TVET) institutes are accredited at the national level.
Between 2013-18, 498,994 laptops were distributed to youth across Pakistan to create an enabling environment, besides awarding 81,047 internships to youth, the Parliament was informed.
