Netflix has announced a new feature called Profile Transfer, which will help users in transferring their Netflix data. The feature to an extent will stop password sharing, which was one of the core issues faced by the streaming giant. Netflix had even cited password sharing as one of the reasons behind the drop in the subscription count.
“Today, we’re launching Profile Transfer, a feature that lets people using your account transfer a profile — keeping the personalized recommendations, viewing history, My List, saved games, and other settings — when they start their own membership,” Netflix posted in a blog post. The feature will be rolled out to all existing members around the world starting today.
If you are an existing Netflix member, you will be notified by email as soon as Profile Transfer becomes available on your account. Here is how you can transfer your profile on Netflix.
Netflix had said in a statement that more than 100 million users are not paying the subscription fee as those people are sharing passwords with other users, which is affecting its business. The company had even launched tests in various regions to charge users who were found sharing Netflix passwords.
