ISLAMABAD, October 17 (INP-WealthPK): An “Export Counter” has been established by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) at its office in Lahore. The purpose of the counter is to help the exporters with relevant information about their potential markets and to provide them with guidance to facilitate their work, according to a press statement received by WealthPK.

The counter was opened by LCCI President Kashif Anwar while Senior Vice President Chaudhry Zafar Mahmood and Vice President Adnan Khalid Butt were also present at the occasion.

Speaking at the ceremony, the office-bearers of the chamber said that the importance of export counter cannot be stressed more. “It is very important that exporters are helped in every way so that their income can increase and they can earn foreign exchange for the country.”

“We all know that exports are the only sure way to uplift the economy,” said LCCI President Kashif Anwar. “The information about the opening-up of the counter will be shared with relevant government departments and stakeholders to make it more effective and result-oriented,” he added.

“Keeping this fact in mind that exports are the lifeline of our economy we have taken this step. We need to make it very easy for the exporters to get information which they need to improve their products and to make more profit by capturing more share of the international market. Exporters will be helped in their issues, their products will be promoted, and they will be guided about certifications and how to explore new destinations for their branded products,” he said.

Other office-bearers of the LCCI said that the LCCI Export Counter will also provide information about Look Africa, significance of exports for national economy, governing the rules and regulations, methods of settlement in international trade, export documentation and procedures, SBP regulations for export, international trade and transport, land, air and sea transportation, besides holding seminars, training courses and awareness sessions for industrialists.

The Export Counter will be available for the exporters to submit any query that they might have about the international trade, potential export markets and essentials for exporters. They will be trained on how to gain more access to the international market by finding more buyers for their products.

Kashif Anwar, the president, said, “We will have to make concerted efforts to increase our exports because otherwise we will not be able to solve our problems. Our export levels do not equal the huge potential that we have. It is highly important that our entrepreneurs take the initiative to realize this untapped potential and demonstrate their abilities to give a jumpstart to the exports. The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry will extend all possible help in this regard.”

Other office-bearers of the LCCI said that exporters should align their efforts to boost exports. Cross-industry linkages are extremely important if a cumulative effect in export enhancement is to be achieved. Value-addition will be the key in going forward since international markets are full of highly competitive products. More investments in technology and innovative projects will have to be made to find better solutions to modern problems. They said that the promotion of a culture of research and development will give a competitive edge to our products.
