PM, COAS discuss ‘important issues’ of national interest

ISLAMABAD, Oct 14(ABC): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an important meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Islamabad on Friday, after which a high-level meeting was also held regarding national security.

According to the information received from Prime Minister House, a high-level meeting was held regarding national security under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz, in which senior military officials including army chief General Bajwa also participated.

In the meeting, important issues related to the security of the country were deliberated upon, while the situation in Swat and the concerns of the local people were also discussed in detail.

Before the meeting, the army chief held a separate meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz, in which the security situation of the country was discussed.

Gen Bajwa informed Shehbaz Sharif about his recently concluded visit to the United States and meetings with the US officials, while the prime minister discussed about his visit to Kazakhstan and meetings with world leaders. In the meeting, the economic and financial situation of the country also came under discussion.

PM Shehbaz and COAS General Bajwa discussed in detail the national security and overall security situation in the meeting.
