LAHORE, Oct 07 (ABC): Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) Secretary Irshad Ahmad said that 351 new dengue cases were reported in Punjab during the last 24 hours.In a statement issued here on Friday, he said that 100 dengue cases were reported in Rawalpindi, 89 in Lahore, 60 in Gujranwala, 24 in Multan ,11 in Khanewal and eight in Faisalabad, seven in Attock, six each in Hafizabad, Muzaffargarh and Kasur, five in Sheikhupura, four in Okara, three each in Gujrat, Narowal and Chakwal, two each in Sialkot, Nankana Sahib, Rahim Yar Khan, Toba Tek Singh, Jang and Layyah, one each in Bahawalnagar, Lodhran, Dera Ghazi Khan and Khushab.
He said that a total of 8383 dengue virus cases had been reported so far during the current year, adding that one person died of dengue in Lahore during the last 24 hours while 12 people died of the virus in the current year so far.The P&SHD secretary said that 1,015 patients were under treatment in different hospitals of the province.An anti-dengue squad conducted surveillance at 408,790 indoor and 98,680 outdoor places to detect dengue larvae during the last 24 hours. The squad, under the P&SHD, killed dengue larvae at 3019 places in the province during daily surveillance. The secretary urged people to adopt precautionary measures and keep their environment clean and dry to protect themselves from dengue.
