WEB DESK, June 15(ABC): Indian police on Monday arrested Santosh Jadhav, an alleged shooter in the Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala murder case.
Jadhav s aide, Nagnath Suryavanshi, was also apprehended, an official said. Jadhav is a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He was nabbed from Bhuj in Gujarat in a 2021 murder case lodged at Manchar police station in Pune, news agency PTI quoted the official as saying. Police said he was on the run for a year.
India’s Pune police official said, “Santosh Jadhav and Navnath Suryawanshi were arrested from Gujarat last night. We have their remand till June 20. Further probe to be done including their links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and in the murder of Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moose Wala.”
Meanwhile, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi – jailed in Delhi s Tihar – has been named as the mastermind in the case. Bishnoi along with Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar allegedly plotted the murder of the singer-politician who had joined the Congress months before the state elections.
“It was a big conspiracy to kill the Punjabi singer. We have identified at least five persons in this case and sharing their details with our counterparts in other states. We’ll soon arrest them,” said Delhi Police official.
His death sent shockwaves not just in India but across Canada too where he had gone as a student.
On Thursday, the Interpol issued a red-corner notice against gangster Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, who had claimed responsibility for the murder.
The Congress and Moose Wala s family had sought a probe by a central agency amid attacks on the Bhagwant Mann government, criticised for downgrading the singer s security.
