Up to 14-hour power shutdown paralyzes life in several cities

KARACHI, June 07(ABC): Belying the government’s claim of three-hour power shutdown, up to 14-hour power shutdown has paralyzed life across the country.

In Karachi, the people said that up to 8-12 hours unannounced shutdown is observed in the areas exempted from the loadshedding.

They added that most affected areas are: Quaidabad, Mahmoodabad, Liaquatabad, Korangi, Landhi, Malir, Baldia Town, Kemari and Lyari.

They said that the long shutdown had badly affected the business activities. Citizens are protesting against long and unannounced power shutdown. They said that electricity remained suspended whether it is morning or evening.

They said that the repeated closure of electricity had affected the power supply system. K-Electric is facing a shortfall of 300 megawatts. The power shortfall has reached 6,099 megawatts.
