Green Line Train to start running in Dec

ISLAMABAD, Dec. 02 (INP-WealthPK) — Pakistan Railways is ready to run the Green Line Train in December, in order to better serve passengers and bring in more revenues for the railway department.

A Pakistan Railways ministry official said the train will offer the greatest travel amenities, including delicious cuisine and reasonably priced tickets. He stated that separate LCD screens would be put on each seat in the AC Parlor coaches so that passengers can watch their favourite programmes.

The train has two parlour coaches, five air-conditioned business coaches, six air-conditioned standard coaches, and four to five economy class coaches. To encourage people to take trains, he said that the railway minister has given an order to cut the time it takes to go from Lahore to Karachi to less than 20 hours, the official said.

He declared that Pakistan Railways will enhance both its services on other passenger trains and at the main rail hubs. To assist in solving the increasing problems, particularly those relating to cleanliness, the private sector will be involved. According to the official, the cleanliness-related services provided on trains and at important stations, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Peshawar, Khanewal, Sukkur, Sahiwal, Multan, and Bahawalpur, are not sufficient. The hygienic conditions in trains and at stations will be improved if the private sector’s services are recruited quickly.

He said the government is adopting a number of measures to enhance Pakistan Railways’ performance. The minister has also ordered consistency in the layout of the stalls at the main railway stations, he added.
