Govt to privatize loss-making entities: Pak FM Dar

ISLAMABAD, November 8, (INP-WealthPK): The federal government is fully committed to privatizing the loss-making public enterprises to save the money of taxpayers.

These views were expressed by the Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar while chairing a meeting with the Federal Minister for Privatization/Chairman Privatization Commission, Abid Hussain Bhayo on privatization programme, according to a press release received by WealthPK.

The press release stated that Dar directed the privatization minister for increasing the pace of the privatization process. He told him to frame the modalities for privatization in time so that loss-making entities can be dispensed with as early as possible.

He was accompanied by the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Finance, Tariq Bajwa; SAPM on Revenue, Tariq Pasha; Secretary Finance; Secretary Privatization, and other senior officials during the meeting, said the press release.

The presser said that the meeting reviewed the privatization programme of the state-owned entities and discussed the issues which had been hampering the privatization program, especially of the NPPMCL and other entities.

Dar was also told about the issues related to the completion of the privatization of Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL).
