ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (INP-WealthPK): Construction work on Sora dam project to preserve rainwater in the hill torrent area of Dera Ghazi Khan district of Punjab province would start in December.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs8 billion, according to a statement received by WealthPK.
The initiative to preserve water was launched by the Punjab provincial government. According to the plan, about 10,000 acres of land would be irrigated through the project.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided funds for the project preparation, while the provincial government would bear its construction expenses.
The statement said the land acquisition process has been started, as about 1,700 acres of land would be acquired for the project after price assessment.
Sora dam will be built near Sanghar town of Dera Ghazi Khan district to store hill-torrents water, and it would take five years to complete. The project would generate local jobs and promote tourism in the area.
