ISLAMABAD, October 20  (INP-WealthPK): Livestock sector of the country has an important role to play in the growth and sustenance of Pakistan’s economy, said the Governor of Punjab Baleegh-ur-Rehman while speaking at the Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Bahawalpur.

“Livestock rearing and the industry for dairy products is one of the largest industries in the world. The world over, dairy and meat products are bought and sold to the tune of worth billions of dollars. This industry is so huge that cow rearing is one of the top causes of climate change,” he said.

“Our region has a recognition for better quality meat and dairy products because of the climate of the region and the traditional setting of settled and farming communities. It is, therefore, commendable that the Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences is taking specific measures to improve research and development in the field. It will help us to grow and increase our industry given our specific conditions,” he added.

“Students should be helped by the faculty members to become good scientists so that they can work towards the achievement of national ambition. They should also be inculcated with the ideals of honesty, truthfulness, and integrity,” he continued.

The Governor was informed by the Vice Chancellor of the Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Prof Dr Sajjad Khan about the various initiatives taken by the university administration to improve research and academic facilities at the university.
