ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister and senior PTI leader Shireen Mazari has been arrested by Punjab’s anti-corruption department, Islamabad Police said Saturday.
According to the sources, the PTI leader was taken into custody in a case related to the encroachment of a piece of land in District Rajanpur, filed in 1972.
Former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, in a tweet, said that he has received reports that Shireen Mazari has been arrested by Anti-corruption Punjab.
Fawad further said that former Human Rights Minister was arrested from outside her residence.
Sources privy to the development said that a case was registered against Shireen Mazari in DG Khan over 129 acre land dispute and despite repeated requests she did not appear.
On the other hand, Shireen Mazari’s daughter Imaan Mazari has claimed that male police officers have beaten and taken her mother away.
She said that all she was told is that Anti-Corruption Wing Lahore has taken her.
